Anti-inflammatory Tripeptide
Also referred to as lysine-proline-valine, alpha-MSH fragment.
KPV is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), composed of the amino acids lysine, proline, and valine. It is an endogenous compound, structurally distinct from full-length α-MSH, and research examining the parent hormone cannot be directly attributed to this fragment.
The published literature is predominantly preclinical. KPV carries a positive charge at physiological pH below 7.0, a property relevant to its delivery characteristics across biological membranes.
